Here is a list of websites that sell or rent college textbooks. Save this list for future reference. Add more resources to the list and notes about which textbook you purchased, the date, and price.

Ask your professor if the textbook version listed is actually required for the class. It is possible that the previous version is very similar to the current version and will work just fine.

Don't be afraid to order a used, paperback textbook with markings and slight damage. This can save you a lot of money. Textbooks lose over half their value each year so it's best to buy the cheapest ones possible.

  • Acquire textbook from fellow students or a professor.
    You may be able to locate a copy of the textbook from other students in your area. Craigslist, Facebook or other social media websites may help you locate the appropriate textbook. Sometimes a professor will have copies of the textbook -- it's always worth asking.
NOTE: You or your parents may be able to receive an IRS income tax credit for the cost of your textbooks. Keep all receipts.
